Democracy Betrayed: Behind the Collapse of the DPRP

First of all, the title of this blog is a reference to the book Socialism Betrayed: Behind the Collapse of the Soviet Union by Roger Keeran and Thomas Kenny, pictured above. This title is more of a reflection of my own Communist political views than a literal description of what actually happened to the DPRP (Democratic People's Republic of Paint). Regardless, as y'all will find out by the end of this blog, there is at least a bit of truth in the title of this blog, as democracy was in fact betrayed by some of those who had supported it in the past.

So, as y'all have most likely already heard, I recently declared peace on Paint, after the frozen conflict that had existed between the active Paint members and the members of “SDKcord” since June 13th 2025 had suddenly and unexpectedly thawed, triggered by a single bad joke of mine (not unlike the last time) leading to my full demotion from the admin team. :(

So, how exactly did I go from being Paint's 1st democratically elected Overlord thanks to the support of over 30 community members who had signed Amjam's letter to HullBreach to being stripped of all of my admin powers and almost permabanned? Ultimately, it was due to my own arrogance and naivety, as I am going to explain (in detail) in this blog.

For a brief history lesson here, I first became an admin on Paint on July 11th 2022, due to a democratic effort led by DCTheGamr, royal-rawr, Siling-La, and (basically all) other active community members at the time. As can be seen in this poll from back then, the community overwhelmingly supported my promotion to the roles of blogmin and pollmin, and after this blog was written by my friend Siling-La on July 11th 2022 making the case for my promotion to the admins, it was featured by Rlad116 and I was given both of those admin powers by Angela (Star Shadow) later that day. :)

It cannot be overstated how dedicated I was to my jobs as blogmin and pollmin. I would check for new blog and poll submissions CONSTANTLY, and my lightning-fast blog and poll features were noticed and admired by community members on a number of occasions. It must be emphasized here that at the time of my promotion, the Paint-SDKcord conflict had not even begun yet. That conflict did not occur until August 26th 2022, when former Paint member Yeuron had framed DCTheGamr for racism and got him banned from SDKcord. Even then, the actual conflict arguably didn't begin until I had actively tried to get Angela to apologize to him for the unsubstantiated racism claims over half a year later, on March 15th 2023.

This led to a conflict between DC and his supporters on Paint on one side and the members of SDKcord—most of whom were active Paint admins or close friends of active Paint admins—who had slandered him on the other. This is, of course, a description of events that is blatantly biased by my own personal views of how all of this played out, but regardless, I believe that it is still fairly accurate. This eventually led to him almost being permabanned on July 8th 2023, and while I (at times) tried to play the role of a peacemaker between the 2 sides, more often that not I just wound up defending DC from (what I had felt were) unjust punishments against him by the admins.

This led to later drama such as the PecanPenguin incident (also see this blog of Rose's about that) that had first gotten me threatened with demotion on March 23rd 2024, and ultimately Thi500's smear blog that was posted on April 4th 2024 and did successfully get me demoted. After I had exposed Thi500's cyberbullying of me over on SDKcord to HullBreach, however, he had restored my blogmin powers on June 25th 2024, and he also permabanned Dani1221 for “Targetted harassment” of me, against my wishes. My first action as an Overlord later was to unban her.

“DC constantly goes on about a “war” between the two sides of the community and manipulating the other paint members to join him in this, resulting in an almost cult-like following. It’s DC that instigates the constant divide despite our attempts at making peace. There is limited evidence due to the fact that Paint does not log much, as most of this happens in chat rooms and groups. The same manipulation is what got Paint user Dani1221, formerly TheMaid17, permanently banned for simply defending herself, however there is reason to believe that this situation is in dispute and could be reversed.

—Thi500 lying, as usual.

Dani1221 was unbanned on Dec 8, 2024, 9:57 AM
by Draconid_Jo for I was the one she “targeted” and “harassed”, and I feel that her punishment was excessive.

Needless to say, Thi500 never expressed any gratitude whatsoever for me unbanning Dani.
(Instead he had just complained about the fact that I was made an Overlord…)

ANYWAY, things were actually pretty peacefully on Paint after my reinstatement. UwUQueen had returned to Paint and was helping out at the Help Desk, and things were pretty good all around. That is, until Aryan first appeared on August 13th 2024 and proceeded to flood Paint with a barrage of alt accounts unlike anything Paint had experienced in recent history. This was used in order to frame DCTheGamr and get him permabanned on September 24th 2024. As y'all are already well aware, he has yet to return to Paint even now. I later proved that “Aryan” was in fact none other than blueturtle, the same one who was responsible for the aforementioned PecanPenguin incident, and who continues to be a nuisance to this day.

DC's ban was obviously a major setback, but only because DC and myself agreed to accept his punishment due to things that DC himself did offsite on Twitter that he genuinely regretted doing. Had we wanted to reverse DC's permaban, it would've simply been a matter of speaking to Hull about it, and he would've done so.
(See this blog for more information about that.)

Anyway, in spite of the major setback of DC's permaban—which again, could easily have been reversed if we had wanted to—things had still continued to improve for us all on Paint. On October 12th 2024, Amjam had first posted his letter to HullBreach calling for community members to support me and/or UwUQueen's promotion to Overlord. On November 5th 2024, Divine Crusader had restored my pollmin powers—which Hull hadn't done when he had originally reinstated me as an admin for whatever reason—and also granted me groupmin powers for the first time. By November 25th 2024, Amjam had already gotten 30 signatures for his letter and I had presented it to Hull, prompting him to give me all 9 of the remaining admin powers the following day. By December 7th 2024, I was an Overlord. :)

At this point, it is fair to say that we had FINALLY “won” the “war”. Although SDKcord and the other admins—besides UwUQueen and Amjam, of course—weren't particularly thrilled with my promotion to Overlord, because of the fact that only HullBreach himself can promote or demote Overlords, they all had to accept the fact that I was one, whether they personally liked it or not.

So, where did it all go wrong from here? The obvious answer is the February 2025 admin election.

image

The simple fact of the matter is that while the admin election idea was EXTREMELY popular among active Paint members—“our side”, as it were—it was EXTREMELY unpopular among the SDKcorders and the other admins. So unpopular, in fact, that a reaction to it was inevitable. Although our own reaction to the “Nostalgia Night” chatroom events arguably exacerbated this problem, I am quite confident that at least a few of the admin reinstatements that preceded the “Nostalgia Night” chatroom events would've been permanent reinstatements—as they in fact ultimately were—even if we had left the “OGs” undisturbed during their event.
(I obviously can't say that for sure, though.)

image

In other words: our democratic revolution triggering an anti-democratic counterrevolution was completely unavoidable, and the anti-democratic forces happened to include the entire admin team besides me, UwUQueen, and Amjam, and included at least 2 other Overlords at the time, as well. Furthermore, literally all of the “drama” that occurred on Paint in 2025 occurred as a direct result of the reinstatement of 3 specific “OG” admins who had consistently openly antagonized me—such as by blocking me and ignoring me in conversations related to admin matters, in direct defiance of HullBreach's “chain of authority”, BTW—and (to a lesser extent) my friends: MysticalZoey (Overlord), Thi500, and yaynikki. It must be emphasized here that none of these 3 individuals were active Paint admins prior to Overlord Haruspex “[going] horribly rogue and just [handing] out admin powers like [they're] Halloween candy”, which was done in direct response to the admin election.
(Hence why Haru's comment was posted on the blog for the admin election.)

At an admin meeting that was held by HullBreach during the earliest stages of the post-election “drama”—on March 1st 2025 IIRC—Hull put a complete freeze on all new admin promotions and demotions by Overlords, effectively killing the democratization of Paint before it even truly began. This was obviously done in an effort to appease the overwhelming majority of recently reinstated “OG” admins, all of whom were completely opposed to the very idea of democracy on Paint. Ultimately, it was these 3 openly antagonistic admins constant abuses of their admin powers against me and others that triggered the admin purge that led to my demotion from my position as Overlord in May, and while things may have seemed stable up until my recent full demotion, ultimately, we had lost the war the moment that the process of me losing my Overlord powers began, which (as was stated earlier) was actually when we had decided to hold the admin election in February 2025.

Let me be crystal-clear here, though: democracy—true democracy anyway, like UwUQueen's admin election process for Paintdoes actually work. In fact, it works extraordinarily well. This fact has been proven to be true time and time and time again, although it has been repeatedly ignored by biased weirdos who did not even bother to read what UwUQueen"s process actually is, and think of democracy in nonsensical terms that are completely removed from actual reality. In reality, everyone agrees that JinxCade, GalacticGam3r37, and NotNotStormie—each of whom were granted their admin powers after receiving 5-6 votes out of a total of 8 votes cast during the February admin election—are all excellent admins. The same goes for Amjam, who was also democratically elected in an earlier, less well-organized admin election held by UwUQueen in Chatroom Yoshi before I was even made an Overlord. HullBreach himself gave Amjam his chatmin powers after UwUQueen had asked him to following that admin election in the chatroom. HOWEVER, the actual problem with democracy on Paint is simply this: the admin team and (even more importantly) HullBreach are against the idea of Paint becoming a democracy, and they are the ones who are actually in charge on Paint. It really is that fliping simple.

Now, I had said something about “betrayal” at the start of this blog, so what exactly did I mean by that?

“Admin elections were a TERRIBLE idea.

We're lucky good came from it. It was basically a popularity contest.”

—One of the democratically elected admins 💀

You heard that right: even the admins who were democratically elected by it themselves do not believe in UwUQueen's democratic process now for some bizarre reason, and mindlessly parrot the same ⅛ thought out talking point of the anti-democratic forces. If I am to be blunt here, I find it absolutely appalling how mindbogglingly stupid they are when it comes to this particular subject. Do they not know how to fliping read?! Does what UwUQueen described in her DM to me back in March 2024 SOUND LIKE A FLIPING “POPULARITY CONTEST”?!!!
(I swear, it's like they're all mindless fliping sheeple! Sheesh!)

image

Putting the blatant stupidity and illogic of some of my close friends aside for a moment here, as I had already stated earlier, these betrayals of democracy—though highly offensive, incredibly disappointing, and more than a bit heartbreaking as well—were completely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. Why? Put simply, because these “traitors” or whatever you wish to call them don't have any more influence over the other admins or HullBreach than I do. Ultimately, regardless of what they or I say, Paint is HullBreach's website, and whatever he says goes. Period.

So, the question to be asked here at this point—both by myself, and also by all of those who had supported my promotion to Overlord back in late 2024—is this: was it worth it to hold the February 2025 admin election? More specifically, was it worth it for ME to sacrifice MY Overlord powers, just so that we could get 3 new democratically elected admins—meaning JinxCade, GalacticGam3r37, and NotNotStormie—who now openly oppose the very same democratic process that got them all their admin powers in the first place? Although it's admittedly a bit of a loaded question that I'm asking here, it's not intended as a rhetorical one by any means. I'm being completely serious here: was it actually worth it in y'all's opinions or not?
(The admin election meant a lot to the community at the time, after all.)

“You don't “drain the Swamp”, the Swamp drains you.

—Matt Drudge

IK that Drudge is a conservative, but this is still a very good quote IMO, and I think that it is quite applicable to these 3 democratically elected admins here. That isn't to say that I don't consider all 3 of the admins who were elected in the February 2025 admin election to be my friends even now—I do still consider all 3 of them to be my friends—nor that I think that they aren't good admins—they most certainly are good admins, irrespective of their newfound, completely stupid anti-democratic views—but I was doing just fine as an Overlord with regards to fulfilling all of the necessary admin functions on Paint in December 2024 up until my May 2025 demotion, so was it really necessary for me to appoint more admins on Paint? Quite frankly, I only did so because of how badly everyone else had wanted me to hold the admin election at the time.
(I was perfectly content being a 1 person admin team with Overlord powers, myself.)

Was it a mistake for me to hold the admin election back then? I'm honestly not sure, myself. One thing is for sure, though: the DPRP is basically dead at this point, and all that remains of it are 3 democratically elected admins who oppose democracy now that they've already benefited from democracy themselves. 💀
(That's totally fair, right lol?)

We do still have Amjam too, of course. Then again, I didn't have to waste the Overlord powers THAT HE ACTUALLY GOT ME IN THE FIRST PLACE to get him his admin powers, so… 🤷

Amjam for Overlord 2026! 🚩✊
(JK, lol! …Or am I?)
